Welcome to El Morro Elementary School. My name is Chris Duddy and I have been the Principal at El Morro Elementary School since 2004. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here and I am proud of what our school has been able to accomplish during this time. El Morro was named a California Distinguished School in 2008 and 2014. Prior to becoming Principal at El Morro, I was Principal for three years at Thurston Middle School, where we also earned the Distinguished School Award. I have also served as Assistant Principal at Thurston, as a Guidance Specialist at Brea Jr. High School, and spent five years as a high school English teacher and basketball coach at Brea Olinda High School.
This is my 25th year as an educator serving in the various roles I have described. I can't think of a better job for me. I enjoy coming to work each day and seeing elementary students that are excited and eager to learn. Their energy and enthusiasm is contagious and it inspires me to create an educational program that meets every learner's needs. I also strive to create a positive school environment that is a Bully-Free Zone where all students are treated with respect. Our school accomplishes this through the Professional Learning Community (PLC) model that is dedicated to student achievement through our Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) program, which is nationally recognized as a "best practice".
I live with my wife of over 25 years, Teri, and our two children, Taylor and Paige, in Aliso Viejo. During my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends outdoors. Some of the activities I enjoy are surfing, camping, golfing, and barbecuing in my backyard.
