Unit Development
LBUSD has created a process for teachers to create units that are relevant and authentic. Teachers start by developing a driving question that is open-ended enough for students to ask additional questions about the topic. Teachers then use LBUSD signature practices and a variety of lenses to help drive engagement. These units typically have multiple ways for students to represent their knowledge and focus on real-world problems. Over the next year, we expect that all teachers will develop powerful units that help students grow as empowered learners, constructive collaborators, empathetic citizens, creative problem solvers, and effective communicators.
