On Tuesday, October 2, the Laguna Beach Unified School District will launch its 2018-2019 Learning Link program for early learning with its first session from 9 to 11 a.m. Learning Link supports early childhood education, fine and gross motor skills, speech and language development, family literacy, and school readiness.

On August 28, at the annual Welcome Back Breakfast for LBUSD employees, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jason Viloria named Spanish elementary school teacher Jason Fritze the recipient of the 2018 Spirit of Laguna award. The award recognizes a District staff member who exemplifies extraordinary service to others.

Announcing auditions for the LBHS Drama Fall Play, Romeo & Juliet. Auditions will be held Wed. & Thurs., 9/5 & 6 from 6-9pm in the Greene Room (LBHS 55) and are open to all LBHS students. Please sign up for an audition time and complete an audition form.

The Annual Data Confirmation process for all LBUSD families is scheduled to open Wednesday, August 15. All LBUSD families will receive an email on August 15 with the Data Confirmation instructions.

Four LBHS teachers were awarded grants totaling $20,000 from the Festival of Arts Foundation to enhance the fine arts department, specifically the school's art, ceramics, dance, and theater programs. Each teacher received a $5,000 grant for their program. The LBUSD recognized FOA at the June 26 school board meeting.

LBHS Drama presents Living With Mental Illness, a playwriting & directing showcase. The original student works illustrate the realities of mental illness with the goal of reducing stigma through the art of theatre. Two performances only: Monday, June 11 & Wednesday, June 13 @ 3:30pm in the Greene Room (LBHS Room 55)

Summer school 2018 at Laguna Beach Unified School District will begin on Monday, June 25 for all grade levels. Elementary and middle school students will be attending Top of the World Elementary School and students in grades 9-12 will be at Laguna Beach High School.

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has designated Laguna Beach Unified School District a No Place for HateĀ® district, recognizing its commitment to creating safe and respectful learning environments for students. The ADL will present LBUSD with the No Place for Hate designation at the school board meeting in the fall.

El Morro Elementary was named to the 2017-2018 Educational Results Partnership Honor Roll for its high achievement and student success. The program is part of a national effort to identify higher-performing schools and districts that are improving student outcomes, it is one of 1,798 schools in CA to be recognized.
