Construction is scheduled to begin on June 15, 2026. Project completion is anticipated in June 2027.

The new aquatic facility will include 16 swim lanes; modern restrooms and changing areas for both the community and the school district; shaded seating for spectators; and sustainable elements such as solar panels for power generation to run pool equipment. The School District and City are working closely to minimize downtime during construction and are looking forward to the day when the new pool is ready to welcome swimmers of all ages. 

Project Timeline

• Pool closure: June 6, 2026
• Equipment and site move-out: June 8-12, 2026
• Construction begins: June 15, 2026
• Anticipated completion: June 2027

This timeline was intentionally selected to align with summer break and minimize disruption to student programs. As a result, LBHS aquatic programs should experience a single-season impact during the 2026-27 school year.

Construction Planning & Safety
Demolition and construction will begin immediately after school ends in June to minimize impact on students, families, and surrounding neighborhoods. Construction staging will use existing parking spaces along Park Avenue to keep both lanes of traffic open, and no full street closures are planned. 

Fire Risk Considerations

• No construction will occur in the public right-of-way on city-declared Red Flag days.
• Construction activity will be coordinated to avoid school-related traffic patterns.
• Pedestrian access around campus will be maintained throughout all phases of the project.

Aquatic Programs During Construction
During the closure, LBUSD will partner with neighboring schools and facilities to ensure our athletes can continue to train and compete.
