Enhancing Communication, Connection, and Problem-Solving During Elementary Years

Laguna Beach Unified School District invites parents and caregivers to a three-part seminar series focused on supporting the social-emotional growth, communication skills, and problem-solving strategies of elementary-age students. Led by school counselors from El Morro and Top of the World elementary schools, the series will explore practical, everyday approaches to strengthening home-school connections and supporting child well-being.

Each session includes interactive activities, take-home resources, and opportunities for discussion.

Time: 8:15–10 a.m.

Session Date Location Description
Session 1: Helping Kids Stay in the Green Monday, Sept. 29, 2025 El Morro MPR | Virtual option available Parents will learn how the Zones of Regulation framework helps children identify emotions, self-regulate and apply strategies used at school in everyday situations at home. The session includes practical tools, visuals and role-play scenarios to support emotional awareness and decision-making.
Session 2: Advocacy and Communication Monday, Feb. 2, 2026 Top of the World MPR | Virtual option available This session focuses on effective communication, collaboration and advocacy. Parents will explore respectful communication strategies, learn how schools approach concerns, and practice navigating real-life scenarios involving peer interactions and school-related issues.
Session 3: Navigating Social Dynamics and Conflict Resolution Monday, April 20, 2026 El Morro MPR | Virtual option available Parents will examine common social challenges during the elementary years and practice a structured, five-step problem-solving process. The session also provides opportunities to connect with other families and share experiences.
