Six Laguna Beach High School Student-Athletes Celebrate College Commitments on Signing Day

LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. – Today, six Laguna Beach High School (LBHS) students participated in a signing day ceremony to commit to playing their respective sports at the Division I or Division II collegiate level, excluding football and basketball.

LBHS Signing Day

The ceremony allows students to be recognized by their families, school and peers for the dedication they have shown both on and off the field. The six student-athletes and their college commitments are:

Addison Berg, Lacrosse, High Point University

Otis Boultinghouse, Baseball, Pomona-Pitzer

Mimi Spangler, Volleyball, Oberlin College

Branson Wade, Baseball, Loyola Marymount University

Jacob Wicker, Baseball, Loyola Marymount University

Isabella Zembruski, Water Polo, Virginia Military Institute

“Signing Day is a special moment for our student-athletes,” LBUSD Athletic Administrator Denise Selbe, Ed.D., said. “It reflects years of hard work, dedication and perseverance in both the classroom and athletics. Recognizing our students in this way honors their achievements and the support of their families, coaches and teammates. It is a proud day for our entire school community.”

Signing Day marks an important milestone in their academic and athletic journeys. The symbolic ceremony signifies the conclusion of the recruitment process and the beginning of the students’ next chapter.

LBHS serves over 800 students and approximately 64% are involved in athletic programs at the school.
