Laguna Beach Unified School District seeks parent, staff, and community feedback on district goals and actions

LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. - The Laguna Beach Unified School District (LBUSD) is seeking feedback from students, staff, families and the community on the goals and actions outlined in the district’s Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP). LBUSD has partnered with Qualtrics to administer the survey, which is open now through Wednesday, April 12.

The LCAP is a three-year plan that each school district in California must develop and update annually, designed to improve student achievement by setting annual goals in several priority areas that align with the district's vision and mission. In spring 2021, LBUSD  worked collaboratively with an advisory committee of students, school staff, teachers, principals, parents and other school leaders to develop the 2021-2024 LCAP focused on three key areas:  college and career readiness, social-emotional competencies, and safe, equitable and inclusive schools.

"The LCAP is a living document updated every year through a collaborative community engagement process that seeks to identify how we can best meet the evolving needs of students and families," said Director of Assessment and Accountability Elisabeth Kannenberg, Ed.D. "The survey is one of the listening tools we use to hear from our community to learn more about the impact of LBUSD's programs and services," she concluded.

The plan addresses the needs of all students, including the specific needs of English learners, foster youth, and economically disadvantaged students. The survey feedback helps LBUSD develop its academic goals for student achievement and the spending plan to help achieve these goals for all students.

“Continous improvement is one of LBUSD’s collective commitments and an ongoing effort to improve all elements of the programs and services we provide to students,” said Superintendent Jason Viloria, Ed.D. “This survey is a critical component of that process because it provides us with a deeper understanding of the individual views and experiences of our school community,” he concluded.

Parent, staff, and community input is vital to the development of data-informed goals and the evaluation of outcomes. The survey takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes to complete and can be found here: https://survey.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_cFKhejfB3LmVRXM. The annual update to the LCAP will be submitted to the Board of Education for approval in June 2023.
