Laguna Beach Early Learning Community Task Force to host screening of No Small Matter documentary
The first feature documentary to explore early childhood education in America today

LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. - The Laguna Beach Early Learning Community Task Force will host a special screening event on Monday, February 10, for No Small Matter, the first feature documentary to explore the most overlooked, underestimated, and powerful force for change in America today: early childhood education.  

The feature-length documentary film and national engagement campaign bring public attention to the importance of early learner needs by sharing powerful stories about the human capacity for early intelligence and the potential for quality early care and education to benefit America’s social and economic future. The film explores how the country is raising its youngest citizens, why making the most of this time in their lives is so crucial, and most importantly, what we can do to change the perception of when learning begins.  

“We know that positive early experiences lay a strong foundation for school success. Research tells us that the human brain develops the vast majority of its neurons, and is at its most receptive to learning prior to kindergarten entry,” said Laguna Beach Unified School District Director of Special Education Irene White. “In collaboration with our Early Learning Community Task Force,  we are invested in bringing our community partners together to build knowledge and expand opportunities for parents and their young children.  We hope community members will join us to learn more about the importance of early learning experiences,” she concluded. 

Mission Hospital Laguna Beach will host the special screening of the film on Monday, February 10, 2020, at 6 p.m.  A light dinner will be served.  A brief discussion will follow the presentation of the film. To reserve your seat visit www.lbusd.org/nsm.
